Monmouth Beach PD Joins Domestic Violence Response Team: Seeking Volunteers

The Borough of Monmouth Beach Police Department, in collaboration with 180-Turning Lives Around, is currently recruiting volunteers for participation on the Tri-Borough Regional Domestic Violence Response Team. The volunteers will work in conjunction with the police to provide support, information, referrals, and a safety plan at the time of crisis. The volunteer victim advocates respond only to police headquarters in Monmouth Beach, Eatontown, Oceanport, and West Long Branch. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have access to transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, be willing to serve on an on-call shift basis, and submit to background investigations. The completion of a 40-hour mandatory intensive training course is required and will be provided to successful applicants. The four-week course, three evenings a week, will begin in June at a location in Monmouth County. Prior knowledge of domestic violence is not required. The Borough of Monmouth Beach Police Department and 180-Turning Lives Around are committed to a culturally diverse team to better serve the community, therefore bi-lingual capability is a plus. To request an application or for further information, please call Lieutenant Dennis Cahill, Borough of Monmouth Beach Police Department, at 732 229-1313, or e-mail at DCahill_MBPD@hotmail.com.
